St. Francis Rummage Sale

The Knights of Columbus, St. Francis School and other interested parishioners are planning the annual rummage sale for August 12-13.  The sale will be in the school gym.  All youth and adults in the parish are welcome to pitch in with their used items and/or their muscle!  Start collecting your donations now.  More details in upcoming bulletins.

June is National Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Month

Memory loss that disrupts daily life may be a symptom of Alzheimer’s or other dementia. Alzheimer’s is a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. There are 10 warning signs and symptoms. If you notice any of them, don’t ignore them. Schedule an appointment with your doctor.

  1. Memory loss that interrupts daily living
  2. Challenges in planning or solving problems
  3. Difficulty completing familiar tasks
  4. Confusion with time or place
  5. Trouble understanding usual images and spatial relationships
  6. New problems with words in speaking or writing
  7. Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps
  8. Decreased or poor judgement
  9. Withdrawal from work or social activities
  10. Changes in mood

Grieving Parents…

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and the Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents will be hosting a retreat for grieving parents at St. Mary Catholic Church in Morgantown, WV on Saturday, July 16, beginning at 9:30 am and ending approximately 7:30 pm. This spiritual retreat is for grieving parents whose children of any age have died by any cause, no matter how long ago. Please see this link for additional information including registration. Need yard work or landscaping done for the upcoming summer? The Knights of Columbus are here to help our elderly parishioners and anyone in need. Please contact 304-253-3695 to set up an appointment so we can come and review your property and determine what needs to be done.  The services are completely free to our parishioners who are local residents, and we can bring our own equipment so yours does not need to be utilized. Looking at Colleges?

Campus Ministry focuses on college students’ personal, spiritual, and moral development, pursuing the mission of Christ. There are seven campus ministry programs in our diocese: WV State College, Concord University, Fairmont State University, Marshall University, Shepherd College, West Liberty University/Bethany College, and West Virginia University.  This ministry is supported by the Catholic Sharing Appeal.  If you or your son or daughter is heading off to college this fall, these ministries will help keep you and God in touch with each other.
